Completed rolling roof and shrinkwrap scaffold on a Khandallah hillside property

Local Project: Khandallah Rolling Roof & Shrinkwrap

Our documented Nicholson Road project used a rolling roof and shrinkwrap system on a Khandallah hillside home. The site needed an overhead enclosure as well as scaffold access around the building.

The completed 18m × 18m system, at 12m high, illustrates how temporary roofing and enclosure requirements can be planned together. Each new site needs its own assessment.

View the Khandallah project photos and case study

Scaffolding and Shrinkwrap Planned Together

A useful enclosure needs more than a covering. Your builder needs room to remove materials, your roofer needs access to the roof, and your window installer needs platforms at the right height.

We plan the scaffold and shrinkwrap together so the enclosure supports the work happening inside it. Depending on your project, this can include the provisions listed here.

Your written quote identifies the areas covered, access provisions, hire charges and any separately priced work.

  • Working platforms for roofing, cladding and window replacement
  • Stair, ladder or hatch-deck access
  • Roof edge protection
  • Loading bays for materials
  • Temporary roof cover over exposed areas
  • Shrinkwrap to selected elevations or around the building
  • Access openings and ventilation arrangements
  • Staged installation and removal

Shrinkwrap for Reroofing in Wellington

Replacing a roof can expose the building before the new roofing is installed. A scaffold-supported temporary roof and shrinkwrap enclosure can help reduce rain exposure during this stage.

We coordinate with your roofer to plan working-platform heights, roof access, material handling and the cover required. Where the project involves changes to the roof pitch or structure, the temporary cover needs to accommodate that work.

Tell us whether you are replacing roof coverings, repairing framing or changing the roof design so we can quote the appropriate setup.

Shrinkwrap for Recladding and Window Replacement

Recladding often involves several trades working around exposed walls. Scaffold shrinkwrap can provide temporary weather protection while old cladding is removed, repairs are completed and the new exterior is installed.

We position platforms around the work your team needs to reach, allowing for windows, balconies, roof junctions and material movement.

For projects completed in stages, we can discuss how scaffold alterations and wrap removal will fit your builder’s programme.

Residential scaffolding in Wellington

Residential and Commercial Weather Enclosures

We provide scaffold and shrinkwrap packages for homeowners, builders, roofers and commercial project teams.

Residential projects may need protection around one elevation, an exposed roof or a full recladding project. Commercial work may require several platform levels, loading facilities, staged access and coordination with other site activities.

The extent of the enclosure is agreed before installation. Full-building encapsulation and partial cover have different requirements, so we assess what your project actually needs.

Temporary Roofs and Shrinkwrap: What Is the Difference?

Shrinkwrap forms a tensioned covering over a suitable supporting structure. It can enclose scaffold elevations and form part of a temporary roof system.

A temporary roof provides the overhead structure needed to cover an exposed roof or work area. Wrapping the sides of a scaffold alone does not provide overhead protection.

If you are removing roofing, tell us which areas will be open and for how long. We can assess a package that includes the required scaffold, overhead cover and perimeter enclosure.

Planned for Wellington’s Exposed Sites

Wind exposure, steep sections and restricted access affect how a shrinkwrap project is planned. Before quoting, we consider the building’s location, ground conditions, scaffold supports and ties, available loading space, neighbouring properties and access for installation.

Adding wrap changes the wind loading on a scaffold. The supporting structure must be assessed for the proposed enclosure, with engineering input where required.

Shrinkwrap helps reduce weather exposure, but safe working conditions still depend on the weather, the enclosure’s condition and the work being carried out.

How Much Does Scaffolding Shrinkwrap Cost?

The price depends on the complete setup—not just the size of the building.

We provide an itemised quote showing scaffold erection and dismantling, shrinkwrap installation, weekly hire and any additional requirements. Weekly scaffold inspections are included in our quoted weekly hire.

Send us your site address, the proposed work and expected start date. Photos or plans are useful but optional. We will confirm whether a site visit is needed before providing firm pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can shrinkwrap cover the whole house?

A full enclosure may be suitable for some projects. Others only need selected walls or roof areas covered. We assess the work, site exposure and supporting scaffold before recommending the extent of cover.

Can work continue when it rains?

An enclosure can help reduce rain exposure and weather interruptions. Work still depends on safe conditions, the task being performed and any product requirements for temperature, humidity or drying.

Can you wrap an existing scaffold?

We can assess it. An existing scaffold must be suitable for the additional loading and proposed enclosure before wrap is installed. Alterations or engineering review may be needed.

Does shrinkwrap control condensation?

Ventilation needs to be planned. Shrinkwrap alone does not control temperature or humidity, so painting, coating and drying requirements should be discussed with the relevant trades.

Are inspections included in weekly hire?

Yes. Weekly scaffold inspections are included in our quoted weekly hire. Additional work or inspections outside the agreed scope are identified separately.

How long can I hire the scaffold and enclosure?

We offer short- and long-term hire. Let us know your expected programme so we can quote the hire arrangement and discuss any staged changes.

Scaffold Shrinkwrap Wellington: planned for the local site

Wellington projects often combine steep sections, narrow access, close neighbours, exposed wind and limited room for loading. We inspect the actual site rather than assuming a flat, open setup, then design the scaffold around the building, the trade sequence and the safest practical access route.

Our crew coordinates erection and dismantling with your roofer, painter, builder or project manager. The quoted scope sets out erection, hire and dismantling clearly, while every completed scaffold is checked before handover so the people using it know the access is ready.

Scaffold shrinkwrap and weather encapsulation for Wellington recladding, reroofing, renovations and commercial refurbishment. SiteWise Gold 2026/27 prequalification, WorkSafe-aligned erection practices and clear handover documentation are part of the service, whether the job is a single elevation or a staged project involving several trades.
